What to know first
East Austin covers a lot of ground, from the bars and restaurants on East 6th and Cesar Chavez out past Airport Boulevard to Springdale, Govalle, MLK and the Ed Bluestein corridor. The new apartments here split into two kinds: smaller buildings close in, near East 6th, Manor Road and Mueller, and larger complexes further east where rents drop quickly as you cross US-183.
Close in, you are paying for being able to walk or bike to food and nightlife and for a short drive downtown. Further east, you get more space for the money, newer buildings with bigger specials and easier parking, with a ten to twenty minute drive in. Several East Austin properties also set aside homes at income-restricted rents, which I can check you against.
Each building below has a video tour, base rents checked on the date shown, and the fees you will actually pay.
