My take on Bluestem at Loyola
Out on Loyola Lane east of US-183, Bluestem is a 316-home garden community from 2024 that is still leasing up. The draw is space. One-bedrooms run 855 to 905 sq ft, and the townhome plans go up to 1,812 sq ft, with granite, kitchen islands, in-unit laundry and keyless entry. Outside there is a pool with a tanning ledge, a bark park and pet grooming room, and a game room with arcade machines and shuffleboard.
Official base rents start at $1,327 for a one-bedroom, $1,784 for a two and $2,173 for a three. RentCafe shows up to 12 weeks free plus a gift card of up to $2,500, varying by plan, but the property's own site shows no special, so confirm it. If it applies, a $1,327 one-bedroom on a 12-month lease nets out to about $1,021 a month. Required monthly fees aren't published. Reserved parking is $75 and covered is $125, both optional. Prices move, too: a locator post from October 1 had the one-bedroom at $1,511.
The tradeoff is distance. Downtown is about 20 minutes and the Domain 22 outside rush hour, with SH-130 about 5 minutes away, and you drive for everything. Reviews praise the staff and the square footage, and mention thin walls, car break-ins and strict towing. Management also changed in late 2025. Before you sign, ask which plans carry the 12 weeks and drive the commute at 8 a.m.

- you want a lot of square footage or a townhome for the money, and an east-side or SH-130 commute works for you

- you want walkability or a short drive to central Austin or the Domain
- The catch
- It is far out on Loyola Lane: car-dependent, with a long rush-hour drive downtown. Residents mention thin walls and car break-ins, and management changed hands in late 2025.
