Libertad Austin

Libertad is a new income-restricted community on Gardner Road in East Austin: three four-story buildings with 198 homes. Every home is set aside for households at 30%, 40%, 50% or 60% of median family income, and 50 carry project-based vouchers through the Housing Authority of the City of Austin. Plans are a 651 sq ft one-bedroom, an 835 sq ft two-bedroom and a 1,020 sq ft three-bedroom. There's a gym, a clubhouse kitchen, a half basketball court and resident services run with Caritas of Austin.

Rent depends on which income tier you fall under, so there isn't one price. Listings show one-bedrooms at $671 to $899, two-bedrooms at $800 to $999 and three-bedrooms at $918 to $1,582, but those ranges mix two third-party sources. The current offer is 2 months free plus a $2,500 gift card if you apply and move in by October 31, 2026. On a 12-month lease, that takes an $899 one-bedroom to about $749 a month. Monthly fees aren't published, and homes have washer and dryer connections, not machines.

Downtown is about 11 minutes by car and the airport about 13, with Govalle Park and the East 7th and Springdale corridor about 4 minutes away. Parking is a surface lot, so plan on driving.
