My take on The Rhett
This 2025 tax-credit community on East Yager Lane, near Copperfield and Tech Ridge, has 215 homes across three five-story elevator buildings, and every home is income-restricted. Units have granite counters, plank floors, tile tub surrounds, a patio or balcony and washer and dryer connections. On site there is a pool, a gym, a movie room, a library, a playground and an after-school tutoring program. The Copperfield Nature Trail is about a 2-minute walk.
Rent depends on the income tier you qualify for, with homes set at 30%, 50%, 60% and 80% of area median income. Starting rents are $1,050 for a one-bedroom, $1,250 for a two and $1,499 for a three, and top-tier rents run to $1,430, $1,701 and $2,664 on ApartmentList. There are 10 weeks free right now. On a 12-month lease, that takes a $1,050 one-bedroom to about $848 a month. There are no mandatory monthly fees and water is included, so you pay rent plus electric, estimated at $85 for a one-bedroom.
Tech Ridge's H-E-B and Walmart are about 5 minutes away, the Domain about 12 and downtown about 20 by car. Only verified assistance animals are allowed, and you bring your own washer and dryer. Tip: gather pay stubs, bank statements and asset details before you apply, because tax-credit files need all of it and a missing page can cost you the unit.

- you qualify under 30-80% MFI limits and want brand-new construction with water included, no mandatory monthly fees and a low deposit near Tech Ridge
- Look elsewhere if
- you have a pet, your income exceeds the 80% MFI limits, or you want included washer/dryer and upscale amenities
